Week 2: Open Drapes on Sunny Days
Open draperies and blinds during the day to allow sunlight in, and close them at night to insulate against cold outside air.

Week 3: Change Furnace Filter Regularly
Changing your filter helps equipment “breathe” easier, operates more efficiently and uses less energy.

Week 4: Run Full Laundry Loads with Cold Water
Run washer and dryer on cold with a full load to increase water and energy efficiency.

Week 5: Caulk Windows
Caulk around windows and doors to prevent air leaks and ensure that warm air stays inside your home.

Week 6: Set Water Heater to 120°F
For safety and energy efficiency, 120° is the ideal temperature.

Week 7: Install Carbon Monoxide Detector

Week 8: Set Thermostat to 70° During The Day
If you have a programmable thermostat, use it to adjust the temperature without sacrificing comfort.

Week 9: Inspect Your Appliances

Week 10: If you are an existing or new customer, log into the Account Center or call 1-888-286-6700 to update your account or place an order to turn on gas service. Do it today to avoid possible delays when cold weather arrives.

  • DO NOT turn lights on or off, smoke, use a cell phone, or operate a vehicle or equipment that could cause sparks.
  • DO NOT attempt to turn natural gas valves on or off.
